Buona Pasqua: Easter Traditions & A Special Announcement
Ciao Amici,
As we wait for the flowers to bloom and the air turns sweet with the scent of spring, my thoughts naturally turn to Pasqua (Easter) in Italy. It is one of the most beautiful times of the year, filled with ancient traditions, vibrant processions, and, of course, incredible food.
There is a specific feeling to a spring morning in Italy—the sound of church bells echoing through narrow cobblestone streets, the smell of fresh fiori d'arancio (orange blossoms) in the air, and that first morning when you realize you don't need your heavy winter coat for your morning espresso. It is a season of rinascita—rebirth.
The Magic of the Italian Easter Egg
If you’ve ever walked through an Italian pasticceria in the weeks leading up to Easter, you’ve seen them: the Uova di Pasqua. These aren't your average chocolate eggs. They are towering, ornate masterpieces wrapped in shimmering silk paper and ribbons.
The best part? Every egg contains a sorpresa (surprise) inside! It’s a beautiful reminder that this season is all about renewal and the joy of the unexpected.
I remember vividly as a young girl, collecting these not so much for the chocolate but for the surprise and today, I continue to keep this tradition alive with my daughter. I don’t think I’ve ever finished a whole Easter egg but I’m quite sure I’ve tried. They are so big!
What to Wear: Easter Sunday Elegance
Whether you are attending a morning service or a long, sun-drenched lunch with family (Il Pranzo di Pasqua), your outfit should feel as fresh as the season. In Italy, we have a saying: "Vestirsi a cipolla" (to dress like an onion). It means layers! The spring sun is warm, but the shade can still be crisp.
At LA RELLA, we’ve curated styles specifically for these moments:
-
The Primavera Dress: Soft silhouettes like this one or this one that transition perfectly from church to the garden.
-
Lightweight Knits: Essential for that "onion style" layering when the breeze picks up. This top is available at La Rella and it's sure to make a statement.
-
Elegant Accents: Add a touch of eleganza to your Sunday best. This top is an instant winner.
🇮🇹 Coming Soon: Your Guide to an Italian Summer
I have been so touched by the many of you who have reached out to share your travel plans! It seems like everyone is dreaming of an Italian getaway this spring and summer.
Because so many of you asked for my "secret spots," I’ve decided to turn this blog into a travel companion for the next few months. We will cover:
-
Memorable Stays: Where I have stayed and where I would go back.
-
The Art of the Meal: Dining in Italy is a marathon, not a sprint. We’ll talk about how to be strategic—why you should never order a cappuccino after 11 AM, and how to spot a "tourist trap" restaurant from a mile away.
-
The Travel Wardrobe: We’ll solve the "cobblestone crisis"—how to look chic while walking 15,000 steps a day (hint: sneakers are perfectly fine).
A Small Disclaimer: I am not a travel agent! I won't be giving you flight numbers or booking codes. These recommendations are based on my personal memories—the places that left a mark on my heart and the meals I still dream about. I'm sharing my "Italy" with you, as if we were sitting over a glass of red wine planning your trip together.
Stay tuned—our first stop on the journey begins in my next post, where we head to the coast!
A presto!
